Hi all,
Forgive me if this is a simple question! How do I make a shaped image..eg a heart/polygon etc from a normal rectangular image. I know how to select the shape tool, drag it over the image and make a selection from a path, but how do I delete the background? Thanks in advance,
Paul

Under "Select" on the top menu bar choose "Inverse" (or Shift+Ctrl+I if you’re comfortable with keyboard shortcuts)

Thank you. However, I have spent a few hours figuring this out and I’m able to use a custom shape over a rectangular image and create a vignette effect. When I email the result to my friend the image is shown how I want it, i.e. a feathered vignette on white..so you can’t see a rectangular boarder. However, when I open the image in Photoshop it displays as a traditional rectangular image. Hopefully this is clearly explained? Has eps file got anything to do with what I’m trying to do??
Cheers,
Paul

if you mean the window that displays the pix in PS then you can’t. it’s a limitation of the opsystem, a resizeable window will be retangular, there are a couple of tecniques to make a "splash screen" (no border) seem to be any shape but it’s really just the aplication fooling windows.

if you’re emailing jpgs and they are displaying correctly then you’ve done what you want.
