storing .xmp files in CS2

Hi,
PS CS2 sores changes in RAW files in .xmp files and places them in the same folder with orginal files. Is it possible to setup CS2 to store ..xmp files in separate folder?

No. And it might be a problem anyway, because there could be name clashes.

You appear to have 3 options in CS2:

1. Use the "central" database, not XMP files. (I don’t like that, but some do).

2. Use XMP sidecars (in the same folder). (I used to do that in CS).

3. Use DNG instead of your camera’s Raw format, and use the option (in ACR 3.1) of holding the settings in the DNG file itself. (In effect, it embeds the XMP sidecar-contents in the DNG file). That is what I do, because it means I only have one file to manage, and I don’t have to worry about the image and the settings getting separated.

Do you have a specific problem that these options don’t cater for?
