I never got an answer the first time so I’ll try again…,

Every time I try to save an image to the web as either a jpg or gif, I get the following error.
"Could not complete this operation because an assertion has failed."

Just a plain message box with no other information. If I uninstall the program and reinstall it works fine for awhile. It appears to happen after one of the automatic updates. Can this feature be turned off? How can I fix this problem?

Thanks!

I had a similar problem (not save for web– just saving a jpeg as tiff.) I got rid of the problem (with some exceptions) by renaming the file with the file name followed by a dot and then the full name of the mode of the change. E.g. "Balloons at Fair.tiff" or "jpeg" this seems to make a difference, bedcause whe you save to tiff , and I think jpeg the usual way it comes out "Balloons at Fair. tif" (or "jpg")

I can save the image to any of the usual formats via "SaveAs". It is only when I choose "Save for the web" and click the "Save" button that I get the error. If I reload the program it works, for a while. After several days the error returns!
