I want a layer on the front of my image that is 20% opaque and looks like shattering glass, so that the subject in the layer behind looks like they are crashing through it. Does anybody know of a good way (technique, filter, plug-in) etc to make shattering glass?

The shatter on Xenofex isn’t what I’m looking for though… it needs to be shattering more like this :

In a circular pattern, but with big gaps in the glass and shards flying all over.

Any help appreciated.

Stephen

There is a little tutorial for glass shards at
http://www.photoshoptechniques.com, I think in the members sections Tips and Techniques. It looks as though you could do this and then run the polar coordinates on the result for a similar effect.
