Having trouble cutting out photos and placing them in Pagemaker

Last year for our High School yearbook we had a plethora of "cut out" photos. Unfortunately, last year’s seniors were the only people that were informed of the process in which these "cut outs" were made. If anyone knows how to isolate a section of a photo and place it into Pagemaker I and the rest of my staff would be very thankful.

Almost certainly these were tiffs with clipping paths. They can be made in PS (look up help on clipping paths).
