RAW to TIFF conversion in PS CS

Hi

Hope someone can help.
When we save a Nikon RAW image (12 bits NEF) in 16 bits TIFF format in PS_CS what kind of conversion is used? Is it Linear Conversion?

That depends what software you use. If it is only a linear conversion, the TIFF will look very dark.
