not sure if 5LE has actions, but 7 does. simply start recording, select layer, flatten. stop recording. right click on the action in the palette and select it’s proporties (or is that double click on it… one or the other) in there you can assign a function key (F5 for example) to run that action. See actions in the ps7 manual for more info.
Thanks Dave, but I’m not sure if I am going to use 7 in the mean time. Does anybody know of a way to do it in 5LE? I checked all the other help places, searching for "hot key", "short-cut", "falatten", and "layer". I aplso checked File>Preferances.
Thanks!

does 5 have actions? if not you’re "stuck" using 7.
What "actions"? It might, I might not be aware of them. Please excuse my silly questions!

there’s a actions palette in 6 and 7 (and cs) used to automate tasks. you’ll need to either follow my instructions above or look it up in the manual.
ps… the controls for recording actions are very much like a vcr. start recording, stop recording and play. you shouldn’t have much trouble figuring them out.
I am pretty sure the PS 5 has actions, but LE probably didn’t. This is one of the higher end functions that was omitted from the LE versions. The LE version I started out with didn’t even have layers.
I was able to upgrade to full PS from LE. You might want to call Adobe to see if they still have an upgrade path. It won’t be as nice as the people who have a full version, but it might encourage you to upgrade, if you are on a computer that can handle CS.
don, he says he has version 7…
He has to quit using LE and learn the real thing!
Aah, blimey LE. Oh well… I guess I’ll still use my LE for the little stuff, but when it comes to editing high quality digital photos, I’ve already switched to 7.
Tanks for helping guys!
