PS CS: Pause When Opening Documents?

Photoshop CS, Win2K, 784MB RAM

Photoshop pauses for .5 – 1 second after opening an image, but before you can do anything with it – the only visual indication that anything is happening during this pause is the absense of thumbnails in the channels palette – I have mine set to display the smallest size, which has never been a problem in the past (and turning them off actually seems to make the pause longer!).

It’s not a showstopper but it’s becoming annoying when working on a large number of images. Previous versions never paused like this… is this happening to everyone, or is it something specific to my system?

I see it. I’m also seeing .5 – 1 second delays when switching brush shapes from the context menu that pops up over the image when you right click. That never occured in 7. Like you said, not show stopping but rather annoying.
