In the layer options there is something like "render layer" which will make the path you have created into a bitmap, and will give you the effect I think you want. You lose the ability to edit the shape as vectors.

Don….

Point of order here:

"In the layer options there is something like "render layer" which will make the path you have created into a bitmap, and will give you the effect I think you want."

Do you really think it’s a wise idea to instruct someone that "Render Layer" will produce a "bitmap"? Of course, we know that "bitmap" is a generic term that most Windows-users use to refer to images they see on their monitors, but in the realm of Photoshop, it means a very specific type of raster-based image, and simply doing "Render Layer" will NOT produce what Photoshop refers to as a Bitmap file. Continuing to call just any old raster image a "bitmap" is a disservice to new Photoshop users trying to learn. It’s important to use specific and correct terminology when helping new users because it helps bring them onto the same page as those us who are better-versed in the application, and makes it easier for them to clearly communicate their ideas in the future.

Mike…

It’s a little unclear what you’re asking for help with. Could you please explain more about what you’re trying to do?

yes, I should have described it more clearly.

Looking at the navigation bar for

<http://www>. amazon.com,
<http://www.drugstore.com>

the rounded rectangles have core color and a sharp black outline. I can get the rounded rectangle but the having problems getting the outline. Tried the "stroke" feature, but its not available,

a shortcut through this process would be great, if availabe, I’ve checked thru a few books, coverage is very light.

thanks again!

1. draw rounded rectangle.
2. double click on layer thumbnail in layer palette. choose fill color.
3. double click on layer clipping path thumbnail in layer palette. click on
stroke and choose colour and size.
