Can anybody help me with this?, (I’ve tried all day to no avail)

I’ve been successfully batch processing with a whole variety of different actions but the one thing I can’t seem to achieve is to take a single open file and save a large number of variations.

Specifically I’ve got a large frame from within which I want to cut and save a much smaller frame. I then want to move the selection by a fixed distance of 4 pixels, resample and resave the resultant small frame – and so on.

I’ve tried doing this using the File – Automate – Batch command and then selecting the source as "Opened Files". It does everything perfectly and then at the end it closes the open file, so it can’t go on to repeat the process a second time.

Any help much appreciated

Without more detail, the following is just a guess, so bear that in mind.

You may have to re-think your automation workflow. Instead of trying to complete one image with all (for example) five variations, perform a process that automates the completion of variation 1 on a folder of images, then perform the process on variation 2 on the folder of images. Yes, you’ll have to run it five times, once for each size, but it’s the cleanest way.

Otherwise, you have to leave all images open, and you would run your batch in 2 steps, one to create the variations, and one to save them. If you have a lot of images open, it gets messy from a naming perspective, but if you have the system resources, and are organized, it would work, but it’s very kludgy.

Peace,

Thanks Tony

Good idea, I’ll give it a try, but as I’m doing 250 variations the word kludgy is an understatement!

But it’s good to have confirmation that I’m not missing a more elegant solution from within the software, thanks
