Are your files 8 bits/channel (instead of 16 bits) and in RGB mode? If so there should be no problems.

How are you making jpegs, with Save for Web or ImageReady or just Save As?

yes – RGB and 8 bit channel…i use…
i think what is happening is , when i save as a JPG, a window should come up and give me a percentage amount to save image as (in JPG form), instead Photoshop just freezes at that point……….

Yikes, Ya got me on that one. Ya might want to reset ps preferences, however I’m not sure that would solve the problem.
Good luck!

they are 8 bits, in RGB mode.
i’ve been resaving older images as well, but photoshop is having freeze problem with saving all images as jpg and png.
and i’m using "save as" feature .

Today I had some tiff files I wanted to save as jpg and it wouldn’t work for me. I was in RGB mode, 8 bit mode and the images were flattened. Later, after turning the PC back on, I tried it again with the same images and this time it worked. I can’t explain it. I don’t think this helps the original poster unless something got reset by turning off Photoshop and then back on again. Lynn

Take a look here first, scroll down to 5:

http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/316834.html

If you decide to uninstall and reinstall, click on Start, select Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and it should be listed as Adobe Photoshop V#.

If your image is in Lab, Indexed or Multi Channel Modes JPEG is not an available format. Also JPEG does not support 16 Bit/Channel color. Swithching to RGB or CMYK and to 8bit/channel should solve your problem I think.

unchk save as Copy (if selected)
also just a note. U can try Flattening the image . however ALWAYS SAVE your work to a .psd so u can make changes later .

if that didnt work reset your CS..
To fix most problems with the Photoshop Application you simply delete the preference file and restart Photoshop. They have been moved in V6 and can now be found: Windows 98: Windows\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\6.0\Adobe Photoshop 6 Settings
Mac: They are in the Adobe folder in System.
Note – you can now reset them on startup by holding down Shift+Alt+Ctrl. And of course on the Mac with Shift+Option+Command

Dumping Preferences

A lot of Photoshop problems can be fixed by dumping the preferences file: While launching Photoshop, Hold down Alt+Ctrl+shift on the PC or Cmd+Option+Shift on the mac. When asked to reset the preferences say yes.
Before you do this, save your custom Patterns, actions, styles, brushes, gradients, shapes and color pallettes. These will also be reset. Tip: You can create an action to do this, so you have a one click backup! (Don’t forget to save the backup action first)
