Hey guys, do any of you know of any good freeform pen tool tutorials online? I am using it for website design and am looking at making some curved menus etc., but it is driving me crazy trying to get it right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The freeform pen tool is not the best way to create smooth curves. The regular pen tool is much more precise for this. The instructions in your User Guide are a good place to start.

If you still prefer the freeform pen tool, try

Here’s another one from the same site dealing with the regular pen tool — my tool of choice for drawing smooth, consistent curves. http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/pentool2/pentool2.htm

Google "Photoshop pen tool tutorial" for a few (like 47,000) more examples.

Very informative tutorial. I wonder, can anyone tell me how to print just the vector path that is created? In other words, just the outline of the object. Thanks.

From the Paths palette, select "Stroke Path." Select the tool you want to use for the stroke (brush, pencil, etc.) depending on the thickness and soft/hardness of the outline you desire. Once you have stroked the path you can print that visible outline.

You can stroke the path, but the stroke is ot a vector object–it’s pixels.

If you want to print the vector path *as a vector*, bring it in to Illustrator.

I don’t know if this will show up twice or not. But seems like my other post disappeared. Once you have the path, make a new empty layer and make sure it is selected, choose a brush size and color, then select the path palette and the small triangle in upper right and choose stroke. The stroked path should be on its own layer. Turn off all layers but the stroked one and print.
