Where, oh where did my saturation go?

I noticed that Gifs and JPEGs displayed in browsers are less saturated than the original in Photoshop. In fact, if the same Gif/JPEG is opened in Photoshop the saturation is just like the original. Apparently the browser is doing something to the image.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there anything that can be done about it?

Photoshop is color managed, whereas browsers aren’t. A good online discourse on getting Photoshop set up for different color management requirements is:
<http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7-colour/ps7_1.htm> Check out Ian Lyon’s whole site. It is a real good resource.

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, I have already configured color management (hopefully I did everything correct). I finally discovered the solution to this problem is to go to the View>Proof Setup menu and choose “Monitor RGB.” This shows me exactly what the color will look like in the browsers.
